One of the more innovative Debt Collectors. Formed by an ex-director of Roxburghe - a company that was found to be not fit to hold a consumer credit license due to their misleading and unfair practices in the businesses' operations. The ex-director, Gary Osner, is the sole director and owner of ZZPS Ltd .
Gary claims he was cleared of any wrongdoing. The Financial Conduct Authority said this though:
"The determination has now been quashed without any finding by the First-tier Tribunal on the issue of fitness and propriety but without any acceptance by the FCA that the Appellants are fit and proper persons.
On any future application, the issue of fitness and propriety would need to be determined. This outcome does not prevent reference being made to the underlying facts which were gathered in the course of the OFT investigation should any party apply to the FCA for authorisation in the future."
Here is an example of what caused their problems.
What to do
According to the ZZPS site, any complaints about the validity of a charge will be referred back to their client. So get them to refer it back...
Another misleading letter
The Protection of Freedoms Act only allows the recovery of the original charge or "fine". Debt Collectors pad out the claim making extravagant demands that a court would strike out. They do this simply to mislead and create fear of an escalating debt. If you get one of these letters report the company to your local Trading Standards.
